*In a drama school rehearsal room, Suyeong and Minju are deeply engrossed in preparing for their graduation production of Macbeth. But then, the unexpected happens—Jeong Doyeon, the so-called “acting genius,” walks in unannounced.
Fascinated by Doyeon, Minju eagerly asks her to practice together. But Doyeon, without much explanation, simply replies, “Leave me a message when you’re done rehearsing,” and vanishes, leaving behind her mysterious bag.
What Minju and Suyeong discover inside that bag is nothing short of bizarre: a notebook filled with strange incantations and grotesque drawings of tigers.
Driven by curiosity, the two decide to perform the rituals written in the notebook. And then, something unimaginable happens—a tiger appears.
What does this tiger mean? Why did Doyeon leave this strange notebook behind?
The once-ordinary rehearsal room becomes shrouded in mystery as tensions rise and secrets unravel.
Are you ready to uncover the truth behind the tiger and the enigmatic Doyeon?*
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the play departed from conventional theater spaces, utilizing symbolic objects instead of standard stage setups, lighting, and sound equipment. These objects evoked the ritualistic essence of theater and enriched the storytelling by serving as metaphors for the play’s themes.
One of the production’s standout features was its incorporation of spoken word, blending the genre’s rhythm and musicality with the Korean language’s unique cadence. The performers explored diverse vocalizations and experimental sounds, transforming dialogue into a rhythmic and engaging auditory experience.
The production also emphasized the physicality of performance, aligning the actors’ movements with the thematic and emotional rhythms of the play. This holistic approach allowed <The Tiger in My Bag> to transcend traditional theater conventions, creating a performance that resonated deeply with audiences.
