The Earth is a lonely dot in the darkness of the great universe surrounding us.

One day I walk away from orbit without knowing why.I gradually lost my strength, leaving my body to the flow of the universe.

While wandering, I find a 'Pale Blue Dot' that resembles me in the distance. The dot is a blue planet(the earth), circling while holding the hand of a huge star(the sun), the red dot. The red dot shines so that other dots, including the pale blue dot, do not get lost.

I wander around envy of the blue dot and encounter a star that is neither big nor small. The star brings me back into my orbit.

Like red dot next to blue dot, I find the shining stars around me that I forgot for a while

I pray that all stars in the universe can meet their red dot and protect their blue dot.

This performance was created in collaboration with puppeteer Puppet-Kkun BESISI. Using a cranky stage as its foundation, the production incorporated shadow puppetry and highlighted the artistic elements of the set with traditional Korean paper, Hanji. The unique texture and colors of Hanji were used to depict the vastness of space, the setting for the play. Inspired by Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, the production was adapted and reimagined by BESISI. As a performer in this project, I explored the movements of various puppets from an actor’s perspective. Unlike other types of puppets, the stationary shadow puppets allowed us to convey simple yet powerful imagery. Through this process, I gained valuable insights into the relationship between stage design and the performer.

Outside the performance itself, I participated in the international puppet theater festival PESTA BONEKA as an official delegate. This provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with theater practitioners from around the world. By sharing and learning different puppetry techniques, I was able to broaden my understanding and approach to theatrical expression.

In addition to theatrical activities, the festival offered cultural exchange programs, such as workshops on making traditional dishes from each participant’s country. These activities provided a glimpse into the lifestyles of artists from diverse cultures. Through these interactions, I was deeply inspired by the unique encounters and connections fostered through the medium of theater.
